Eric Anthony Rhea was born and raised in the violent, impoverished city of Gary, Indiana. There Eric and his siblings were permanent fixtures down at the city’s public library and local Boys & Girls Club where they participated in multitudes of contests and other team and character building activities that helped cultivate his love for the arts. Despite getting into his share of trouble in the streets, he excelled in academics at every grade level. Eric's love for movies derives from his God-fearing mother who introduced him to the many films of Charlie Chaplin, James Stewart, Clark Gable, and many other golden age cinema stars.
Eric’s passion for writing stems from the days of his first summer job as a data entry clerk at a rehabilitation center. There he penned his very first short story tentatively titled, Born to Greatness. Somehow the incomplete manuscript found its way into the hands of his supervisor who not only praised his admirable effort and focus but more importantly, encouraged him to continue writing. Years later, that same enthusiasm for crafting stories quickly grew into an obsession which led him to enroll in a Minneapolis area film school soon after earning a computer drafting and design degree. However, after finding film school too formulaic and expensive, he was soon forced to drop the courses, but the passion and determination endured.
Known for films The Culprit, Duffle, and Broken Man's Dreams, Eric has consistently paired unique, thought-provoking storylines with rich, unforgettable imagery as he continues to enthusiastically pursue his filmmaking goals across both film and television platforms.
